The Biophilic Bungalow is reimagining single-family housing as a living system. Framed by the restoration of a 100-year-old California Bungalow, the project honours place and history through renovation and landscape design that regenerates elements of the original coastal woodlands and heathlands, recognising the right of other species to thrive. The design process engages the local community and construction industry, creating opportunities for shared learning and collaboration. The project is targeting Core + Energy Petal Living Building Challenge certification, with the extension designed to meet Passivhaus standards.
